This week our President Huss Mustafa was in Sydney. Representing the ATBC, Huss held meetings with Turkish Airlines, AATA and the Sydney Turkish Consul Commercial Attache.
Huss met with the new Regional Manager for Turkish Airlines, Mr Bilal Tezcan.
Huss Mustafa lobbied on our behalf for THY to commence flights to Melbourne.
Turkish Airlines are aiming to fly a direct route from Istanbul-IST to Sydney-SYD in the near future. Turkish Airlines have commenced planning but implementation is dependent on the completion of the third airport in Istanbul and the delivery of the new long range aircrafts.
This will be the world’s first non-stop commercial flight from Europe to Australia. It is reported that, the new route from Istanbul to Sydney will be the longest commercial flight in the world, spanning 8,076 nautical miles (14,956 kilometres).
The Istanbul-based airline’s new non-stop journey – when it begins – will put many European cities within one short hop of the Australian city.
Turkish Airlines welcomed the support from the ATBC.
